"mellow yellow"

At last, another post!... haven't wet the brushes in a while.... bit rusty but overall happy with this one, beetles always look cheerful,...and specially when they are yellow!

"William the Conqueror"

I painted this surfboard as a commission, its the third one I have painted for this family,
They have one for each of their boys... They are meant for wall hanging and not meant to be surfed.
The last two were airbrushed, but this time used traditional brush work on the foam... I like the effect..
And know the kid doesn’t normally wear a Viking helmet... But that was the brief I got.

I managed to paint this one this morning before work... in between feeding kids using yesterdays palette ...

It was a photo I found, and I just loved the look of the old rusty work horse parked in the shade.

Its been a while between posts... About a week I think.

We held a birthday party for Jackson, had loads of people over and despite the weather we had a blast!

I have nothing planed this weekend for a change so really looking forward getting into a bit of painting.

 Pretty happy with how this one turned out...but I really do have to work on more creative titles!

"Green Kombi"

I don't think I should paint when I am tired ....and I need to sort my lighting out.... 

well thats enough excuses ... I didn't want to post it ... but sometimes to move forward 

you need to step backwards...and the blog was getting old.

"Lunch at Uki"

Rach (my wife) and  I were walking back to our car after having a coffee at Uki, a small village under mount Warning on the NSW far north coast.

The mountain was shrouded in myst, and the old town was lit up, just as we were crossing the road, so I got her to take a snapshot with her phone....  I’ve been looking forward to putting it on canvas ever since,.... Don’t know if I’ve done it justice, but I think I got the gist of it.

This was a tricky one to paint with all those windows!... I love how this one turned out though.

2nd painting of a series, this was parked under a tree on a sunny day,... 

The reflections on the bonnet & windscreen were tricky to capture, ... But I’m happy with the result.

Tomorrow I’m painting a Kombi van.. :)

"61 Beetle"

I’m going to do a VW series of paintings (in between other projects!) ....I used to own a 1961 beetle and loved everything about it, I only brought it as an art project.. With the intention of painting a mural all over it, but ended up just painting it two tone  ..... It was a great and so fun to drive... but had to sell it on as I had nowhere to store it.... So anyway I'm doing this series and this is the first one of many.

"Greenmount Sunset"

This is a small painting of Greenmount Beach (Qld) at sunset....it's a lot smaller than I am used to, happy with the detail on such a small piece.

"Sun Fish"

I had to paint this last night for customer from Australia Zoo, its on a surf board and will get another layer of resin over the top of this and then polished to a high gloss.

I would have normally air-brushed this sort of thing, but as we have recently moved house I wouldn't know where to look for it...... I'll clean up soon.

"Zamba"

"Zamba" is our close friends Weimaraner Dog, she comes around for game of fetch most weekends...a very smart dog, she thinks shes human.

I have never painted a portrait of an animal before, but as far as Zamba is concerned she is not an "animal".

"Red Cafe"

This is a painting of a cafe in Te Anau, on the South Island of New Zealand,

it was painted from a photo that my wife took while on a campervan trip last year...

we had some fun times & with two boys under three as well!... the weather was perfect for the first part & then turned for the the worse towards the end ...but the sights & food more than made up for it.

This is a portrait of Jackson’s cousin Sarah, I found this one quite challenging, but overall I'm happy with the out come.

I am trying to paint more loosely with out fusing over details, it’s harder than in sounds.... But practice makes perfect
